Q&A with Anastasia Alexandrova

Q&A with Anastasia Alexandrova

Anastasia Alexandrova, M.AIRAH, was recently awarded her 10-year membership plaque at the 2024 AIRAH WA Members Lunch. We asked her to tell us a bit more about herself and what makes her tick.

What is your job title?

Business Development Manager at Turner Engineering in Western Australia.

Do you have a specialty?

I’d like to think so. Although I am a petroleum engineer by trade, I think I’ve fitted into the mechanical industry quite well. My job is to select the best ventilation products for your requirements and to make sure that the experience you have with us is a good one.

What are you enthusiastic about?

I am enthusiastic about my family. To see my kids grow and develop, to go through family challenges and to see where we are going to end up. Life is exciting.

What do you like about your job?

I love the ability to meet great people and to listen to their stories. Everyone has a story, and our industry has collected amazing people with amazing stories.

Making friends while I’m doing my job is a part of my work I really enjoy. Also helping people – I love it when I get a distressed phone call asking for help with deliveries or selections, and when I can help them, that really makes my day.

Also, my team at Turner Engineering has the best work culture I have ever been a part of. No matter what’s going on, I can rely on my work mates to help me out at work and in personal life too.

What do you find challenging?

Miscommunication and misunderstanding (although sometimes I’m the cause of it!).

What would you most like that you don’t have?

Hmmm, my dream car?  But I want it just for the number plates – it’s nothing to do with status or anything else. Picture a Jaguar with the number plates: MEEOOW!

If I wasn’t doing what I’m doing, I’d be …

Living on a farm, studying agriculture, growing my own food and medicinal plants. Creating healing medicine from natural sources. Helping people.

Something people might be surprised to find out about me is …

When I was little, I thought being a hitman was a cool job (inspired by the film Leon starring Jean Reno and Natalie Portman).

What are you optimistic about?

People. One day we all will treat each other as if everyone’s feelings were as important as our own. Being vulnerable is the greatest strength you never knew you had.
